2025 Card Review: Trust Cashback

2025 Card Review: Trust Cashback
Reading the TnC on 15% is making me having real trust issues

Trust Bank came out swinging with its no-frills Cashback Card, giving everyday spenders some solid perks. But is this card a hidden gem or just another meh cashback option? Let’s break it down.

Trust Cashback Card: MileWise Card Rating for 2025

☐ Core Card to Use 🔥

☑ Use Only When There Is a Promotion 🎯

☐ Apply Only for Sign-Up Bonus (SUB) 💰

☐ Don't Bother Applying 🚫

MileWise Commentary: Yes, this is not a miles card, but don’t scroll away yet! If you die-die must have miles, close this tab. But if you’re open to cashback, especially for overseas spending, this card might just be your new best friend.

With no annual fees and a 1% overseas cashback rate, this card is great for those who have already maxed out their Amaze + Citi Rewards or UOB Visa Signature. Or maybe you just hate paying FCY fees for miles. Either way, this card deserves a second look.

Key Features of Trust Cashback Card

  • 0% FCY fees

  • 1% Cashback on ALL Spend (Credited Instantly when transaction post)

  • “15% Cashback” Marketing Gimmick is actually not possible

The catch to "15% cashback" (Expand to find out)

To even unlock the 15% cashback, you need to spend S$6,000 per quarter. But only the first S$1,667 qualifies for 15% cashback—the rest earns just 1%.

Let’s break it down:S$1,667 on the bonus category = S$250 cashback (effective 15%) , S$4,333 on everything else = S$43 cashback (1%), Total cashback = S$293 (4.9% effective rate)

The 1% base cashback doesn’t apply to your bonus category spending. This means if you spend the full S$6,000 on your bonus category, you’re only getting S$250 cashback (4.17% effective rate). If you’re only using this as a 1% cashback card, pick a bonus category you DON’T normally spend on—otherwise, if you don’t hit the minimum spend, you’ll earn nothing from it.

Who Should Use the Trust Cashback Card?

  • Travellers – 0% FCY fees make it great for purchases where miles don’t apply (e.g., overseas tuition, donations, insurance premiums) or when you’ve already hit your miles cap.

Follow These Tips to Maximise Your Miles from the Trust Cashback Card:

  • Use it for overseas spend only– If it wasn’t obvious, don’t use this card for SGD transactions because 1% cashback is one of the lowest in the market.

Final Thoughts: Should You Get the Trust Cashback Card?

If you’re considering YouTrip for 0% FCY fees, the Trust Cashback Card is a better option.

Compared to Chocolate Finance’s 0.4 mpd ( after the first $1K spend), Trust’s 1% cashback is the superior deal (unless you’re valuing miles at 2.5 cents per mile, which is quite a stretch). Plus, Trust is a credit card, meaning:

✅ Fraud protection (no need to pre-top up like YouTrip)

✅ Easier for hotel & car rental holds (charges just get reversed later)

✅ No need to track balances in another wallet

If you want a simple, no-FCY-fee credit card with instant cashback, Trust Cashback is worth considering.
