HeyMax Updates: Changes Coming to Your Max Miles

HeyMax Updates: Changes Coming to Your Max Miles
More airlines, more rewards, more travel.

If you’re a HeyMax user, you probably know that Max Miles has been an awesome way to turn your everyday spending into rewards for your next adventure. Well, starting April 7, 2025, there are some exciting updates to the program that could make your experience even better. From new features to temporary changes, here’s everything you need to know about the latest updates.

What’s New?

1. Boosted FlyAnywhere Redemptions

One of the coolest changes is the FlyAnywhere redemption boost. Now, for a limited time until July 7, 2025, you can redeem your Max Miles for flights at 2¢ per mile (up from 1.8¢ SGD). That’s a great value for your Max miles, especially when you’re booking economy class flights.

2. Partial Redemptions for FlyAnywhere

If you’ve got fewer Max Miles but still want to offset part of your flight cost, you’re in luck! HeyMax has introduced partial redemptions for FlyAnywhere, meaning you can redeem as little as 1,000 Max Miles to cover part of your flight. This is a big win for those who don’t have enough miles for a full redemption but still want to get a little help with their travel costs.

3. New Airline Partners

HeyMax just added EVA Air and Garuda Indonesia to the list of airline partners. This means more options for you when booking flights with your Max Miles, making the program even more versatile.

What’s Changing?

1. Direct Points Transfers Paused

One major change is that direct points transfers are temporarily paused while HeyMax upgrades its systems. The goal is to improve the speed and reliability of redemptions. In the meantime, redemptions will be processed as cash reimbursements, and it’ll take about 3-5 business days for your miles to be reimbursed. No need to panic, though—direct transfers will return gradually as new partners are added.

2. Minimum Redemption for Loyalty Program Redemptions Increased

Starting April 21, 2025, the minimum redemption for loyalty program redemptions (like those with airlines or hotels) will increase to 10,000 Max Miles. This is a temporary change, but it’s designed to help streamline the process and make it more scalable as HeyMax brings on more partners. However, FlyAnywhere redemptions will still be available starting at just 1,000 Max Miles.

3. JAL and AirAsia Redemptions Paused

If you were planning to redeem your Max Miles for JAL or AirAsia flights, you’ll need to hold off for now. HeyMax is working on improvements for these programs, but they’re temporarily unavailable.

What’s Not Changing?

1. Max Miles Never Expire

One of the best things about Max Miles is that they never expire. You can save them up for as long as you want, and when the time is right, you can redeem them for your next trip.

2. No Blackout Dates or Hidden Fees

You can still enjoy the flexibility of no blackout dates and no hidden fees when you redeem your Max Miles. It’s all about making travel rewards simple and stress-free.

3. Shangri-La Circle Remains at 5:1

For those of you who are loyal to the Shangri-La Circle program, the 5:1 transfer ratio will remain the same. So you don’t need to worry about any changes here.

Why the Changes?

You might be wondering why HeyMax is making these changes in the first place. Well, it’s all part of their bigger plan to make the Max Miles program even better. By expanding their partner network and improving their systems, HeyMax aims to deliver smarter, faster, and more valuable redemptions. Their ultimate goal? 50 direct airline and hotel partners by 2027. This means more options and flexibility for you in the future.

What’s Coming Next?

These changes are just the beginning. Over the next few months, HeyMax plans to:

  • Expand their partner network: The focus is on adding more airlines, hotels, and travel partners to the Max Miles program.

  • Bring back direct transfers: As HeyMax adds new partners, expect faster, near-instant redemptions to return.

  • Offer more redemption options: HeyMax is constantly working on adding new ways to redeem your miles.

So while some of these changes may be temporary (like the 10k minimum for loyalty redemptions), they’re all part of a bigger plan to improve the Max Miles experience.

Quick FAQ

Can I still redeem fewer than 10,000 Max Miles?

Yes! From April 7 to April 20, 2025, you can still redeem as few as 1,000 Max Miles for loyalty program redemptions. After that, the 10k minimum will apply, but FlyAnywhere will continue to let you redeem from just 1,000 miles.

Why the 10,000-mile minimum for some redemptions?

This change is temporary, designed to align with airline and hotel redemption requirements. As new partners are onboarded, they will bring back the 1,000-mile minimum for loyalty redemptions.

Will my miles be affected?

Nope! Your Max Miles are safu and will continue to be valid for redemption, even with these updates.

How long will reimbursements take?

Cash reimbursements for redemptions will typically take 3-5 business days, but HeyMax is working to bring back direct transfers for quicker processing.
