2025 Card Review: HSBC TravelOne Card

2025 Card Review: HSBC TravelOne Card
Great transfer partners, slow mile earning—here’s the truth about the HSBC TravelOne Card in 2025.

Back in 2023, HSBC TravelOne Card waltzed into the miles scene like an overconfident freshman at a party—boasting 12 transfer partners, instant free conversions, and lounge benefits. Fast forward to 2025, and the card has matured... sort of. Now with 21 transfer partners, points pooling, and extended free transfers, it’s looking better than ever. But let’s not get carried away—this card still earns miles at a glacial pace.

HSBC TravelOne Card: MileWise Card Rating for 2025

☐ Core Card to Use 🔥

☐ Use Only When There Is a Promotion 🎯

☑ Apply Only for Sign-Up Bonus (SUB) 💰

☐ Don't Bother Applying 🚫

MileWise Commentary: So, is it a must-have? At the point of writing, the welcome offer is at 30,000 miles for S$500 spend and a S$196.20 annual fee( non-waivable for first year) works out to 0.65 cents per mile (S$196.20/30,000 miles), which is a excellent price to be buying miles at. I wasn't able to get an annual fee waiver in the second year, and into the gutters it went.

Key Features of HSBC TravelOne Card

  • Miles Earn Rates:

    • 1.2 mpd on local spend

    • 2.4 mpd on foreign currency spend (with a 3.25% foreign currency fee, meaning overseas spending comes out to 1.35 cents per mile, which feels a bit high)

    • HSBC revised KrisFlyer conversion rates in Jan 2025, so it is now 1 mpd (local) and 2 mpd (FCY) post-devaluation if you choose to redeem KrisFlyer miles.

  • 21 transfer partners, instant points conversions with no fees (for now)

  • Minimum conversion block of just 2 miles, after the first 10,000 miles

  • Rare "New-to-card" welcome offers, meaning sign-up bonuses are available to existing HSBC cardholders too

  • Four Dragonpass lounge visits per calendar year (i.e. eight in first membership year)

  • Annual fee is diffcult to waive

Who Should Use the HSBC TravelOne Card?

  • HSBC Multi-Card Users – If you own multiple HSBC credit cards, pooling points can provide greater redemption flexibility.

  • Frequent Flyer Program Diversifiers – If you prefer accumulating miles across multiple airline partners rather than just KrisFlyer, this card offers versatility.

Follow These Tips to Maximise Your Miles from the DBS Vantage Card:

  • Look Out for Sign-Up Bonuses. This card’s best use case is a juicy sign-up bonus

  • Pair with HSBC Revo for Better Points Pooling: Combine spending across HSBC cards to reach a critical mass of points in order to redeem something meaingful from other FFP.

Final Thoughts: Should You Get the HSBC TravelOne Card?

If you’re serious about earning miles, this isn’t the card for you. Unless you get a fee waiver, it’s hard to justify keeping this card beyond the first year.
