2025 Card Review: DBS Vantage Card

DBS Vantage: Worth the prestige or just an expensive flex?
DBS Vantage: Worth the prestige or just an expensive flex?

Like a buffet with lobster tails on one side and mystery meat on the other, it looks tempting, but you have to be careful what you put on your plate. Back in 2022, DBS sauntered into the $120K credit card scene with a flashy metal card, a mouthwatering 80,000 miles sign-up bonus, and some juicy perks. Fast forward to 2025, and while the first-year deal still slaps, the second-year experience feels more like a microwave dinner. So, should you swipe right or ghost this card after year one?

DBS Vantage Card: MileWise Card Rating for 2025

☐ Core Card to Use 🔥

☐ Use Only When There Is a Promotion 🎯

☑ Apply Only for Sign-Up Bonus (SUB) 💰

☐ Don't Bother Applying 🚫

MileWise Commentary: With an enticing X0,000 miles SUB, you most certainly make back your S$599.50 annual fee. However, things get trickier from the second year onwards. FWIW. I certainly dont value Accor Plus Explorer membership, 10 lounge visits, and 25,000 miles at S$599.50. As a miles earning card, earn rates of 1.5 mpd (local) and 2.2 mpd (overseas) are decent for a general spend card, but not quite the 4mpd range that we should be aiming for. My vote is for Churn and repeat!

Key Features of DBS Vantage Card

  • Miles Earn Rates:

    • 1.5 mpd on local spend

    • 2.2 mpd on foreign currency spend

  • Annual Fee: S$599.50, non-waivable for the first year but waivable from the second year onwards if you can spend S$60K annually

  • 10 free lounge visits

  • Complimentary Accor Plus membership with one free hotel night

  • Strict S$120,000 p.a. income requirement

Who Should Use the DBS Vantage Card?

  • Frequent travelers: 10 lounge pass, although Citi Prestige offers unlimited +1 guest priority pass for a lower annual fee

  • Look Out for Sign-Up Bonuses. This card’s best use case is a juicy sign-up bonus

Final Thoughts: Should You Get the DBS Vantage Card?

If you’re serious about earning miles, this isn’t the card for you. Unless you get a fee waiver, it’s hard to justify keeping this card beyond the first year.
