"Insurance premiums can earn miles meh?" 🤔
I hear you – it's getting harder to earn miles on insurance premiums since most cards are excluding them now. But don't worry, it's still possible to rack up some miles, though it might be a bit more limited or require a small fee.
What credit cards should you use for insurance premiums?
Here’s a quick rundown (assuming your insurance isn’t with AMEX x Chubb):
Chocolate Visa Platinum Debit Card: Earns 2 Max Miles per S$1 on all spend, including insurance premiums (capped at S$1,000 per month). After that, the rate drops to 0.4 Max Miles per S$1.
KrisFlyer UOB Debit Card: Earn at least 0.4 mpd, and you can earn bonus miles if you keep a balance in your KrisFlyer UOB account.
Maybank Horizon: Earn 0.24 mpd (SGD) or 1.2 mpd (FCY). If your total spend exceeds S$800 per month, the earn rate increases to 2.8 mpd.
What about workarounds?
CardUp: Use my promo code to get $30 off the admin fee, which is the equivalent of S$1,154 in bills. That’s basically “free” miles. Don’t miss out on this!
Bundle Deals: For example, buy travel insurance when booking your SQ/Scoot flights. This often codes as a travel purchase, allowing you to earn miles from your flight transaction as well.
So yes, insurance premiums can still earn miles – you just need to know the right cards and strategies!
