Accelerated Miles Bonus – 1.8 mpd comes in 2-14 months later as a lump sum.
So... How Did This Person Hit S$1M Spend in a Year?
That’s S$83K per month. Unless you're rolling with crazy rich asians, that’s not your usual GrabFood & MRT spending.
Some Possible Explanations:
Business Spending and Corporate Expenses
Entrepreneurs, SMB owners, and corporate professionals have a big advantage when it comes to racking up miles. Some possible strategies include:
Using personal credit cards for reimbursable business expenses – Charging flights, hotels, and client dinners to their card and getting reimbursed.
Paying suppliers – Buying inventory or supplies online through AliExpress or Lazada as online shopping is one of the bonus categories.
Booking corporate travel with personal cards – If their company allows it, using personal credit cards for work trips and pocketing the miles yourself.
Spending on behalf of family, associates and friends
Possible that the person could be the unofficial group buy leader for luxury trips.
Business class flights, five-star hotels, and luxury cruises for multiple people can add up real quick.
Luxury Spending and Big-Ticket Purchases
Back in 2024, the Amaze card could be paired with the KrisFlyer UOB Card to extend miles earning to offline shopping as well.
The person might be doing multiple trips to Paris for their Louis Vuitton haul, either on behalf of others or reselling on carousell.
Sadly, UOB nerfed Amaze from earning miles, but getting 3 mpd for 3.25% fee is still worth it in my calculation (below my personal valuation of buying miles at 1.1 cpm).
Conclusion: A Million Miles Is Possible... But Not for Your Average Joe
To quote John Wick, "You need to be a man of focus, commitment, sheer **** will."
